On November 2nd, 1830 the twenty-year-old Chopin got on a carriage to leave Poland behind and start a new life in Paris.

He was wearing a ring on his finger he had received from Konstancja Gładkowska, a singer, also at the beginning of her career. His love for the girl has inspired his Piano Concerto in E minor, too –  the piece premiered a month earlier, on October 11th in Warsaw when Chopin played it during his farewell concert in Poland. Chopin has dedicated this concerto to one of his idols, Friedrich Kalkbrenner, a celebrated pianist of his era, living in Paris. An interesting addition that publishers in Paris initially were not too enthusiastic about his piece, saying it was so difficult to play that an amateur pianist would never be able to cope with it. On October 2nd Balázs Fülei will play the Piano Concerto in E minor with the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Daniel Raiskin.
