Auer Trio

Haydn – Beethoven – Mendelssohn: pieces by these composers connected in many ways were recorded by the Auer Trio for their new CD to be released before Christmas.

Haydn's Trio in C major composed in 1795 and dedicated to Marie von Esterházy is followed by Beethoven's Trio in D major, as widely known, the 'Ghost' Trio – the name given by Beethoven's student, Carl Czerny. The closing piece of the record is Mendelssohn's Trio in D minor, referred to as „the master trio of our times” by Robert Schumann. The piece was born in Frankfurt in 1839, during an extremely happy and balanced period of the „newly married” Felix Mendelssohn's life.
