Golden chalice, seaside rock castle, waves, faithfulness, old king – these are the key words of the ballad titled ‘The King in Thule’ written by Goethe in 1774.

The Liszt evening by Sylvia Sass and Balázs Fülei in the Károlyi Castle in Fehérvárcsurgó is full of this balladistic atmosphere reviving the secrets and legends of the elder days as well as other poems providing the lyrics for the songs of the concert. Songs by Liszt based on the poems by Goethe, Schiller, Heine, Lenau, Uhland and the Russian Alexander Tolstoy will be included in the programme of the two artists in the Lord Lieutenant Hall of the Károlyi Castle on June 28th.
