Vienna, 1795. Haydn, a renowned composer all over Europe, in his early sixties then, had returned from England where even the royal family was trying to persuade him to stay, and finished his Piano Trio in C major.

At the very same time and at the very same place, the twenty-five-year-old Beethoven who, cost what it may, was willing to learn from Haydn, the composer-monarch, finished his Piano Trio in C minor. And Vienna again, more than thirty years later, in 1827. The ill Franz Schubert suffering from severe physical and mental pains, composed his Piano Trio in E flat major. A year later when he had given up the fight, he was buried near Beethoven who had been his idol throughout his life. The above mentioned three piano trios, also connected to one another this way, will be on the programme of the next concert of the Auer Trio at FUGA on December 3rd.
